NEED A PRESENT? UNWRAP “UNWRAPPING LOVE”
Are you done shopping? I’m not. I cannot believe how close I am cutting it this holiday. But I have a really good excuse. And it comes in over 700 pages of holiday cheer.
Back in August, I joined this writing group thinking “What the heck? It might be a helpful group.” And that “What the heck?” attitude landed me into a group of amazing writers who provide equal measures of support, knowledge and friendship. In the midst of this and after hundreds (perhaps thousands) of e-mails and messages back and forth, and with the generous support of the people behind PageCurl Publishing, the ladies at Writing Wenches published their first anthology: Unwrapping Love. It is getting great reviews on Goodreads and Amazon. It’s a testament to all the wonderful talent that contributed to the anthology.
I plunged head first into this project, without having had any work published before or even a story written. I had one month to write a Christmas themed story in the midst of the hottest, driest summer we’ve had in recent California history. I am not saying it was hard (because it was not, it was actually fun), but this project needed a bit more “living in my head” than even my patient husband was used to. Not that I minded. I think most writers love talking to the voices in their heads anyway, and I’m not any different.
I enjoyed creating the world of Christine and Hunter, set in one of my favorite cities in the world: New York City. There is something magical about New York during the holidays—with the beautiful city lights providing a backdrop to the crisp winter weather. I hope you enjoy their story.
As a thank you to our visitors and readers, I am giving away $10 Amazon gift card (which is personally my favorite gift card because I can buy my favorite thing in the world—books, of course). Click on the link below to join.
To celebrate the publication of our first effort as a writing group, the other Writing Wenches are hosting a blog hop. Each of them is hosting a giveaway, and telling you a bit about her part in Unwrapping Love. Please stop by each website to learn more about the anthology and enter each individual giveaway, which we will be posting over the next several days.
